Hemp Seeds Boost the Health of Your Beer

Cannabis Drinks

What if your beer could do more than just get you buzzed? A new study shows that adding hemp (cannabis) seeds to the brewing process can actually make beer more nutritious—and still taste great.

Scientists experimented by replacing part of the usual malt grain with up to thirty percent hemp seeds—either malted or unmalted. The result? A beer—or a barley-based drink—with all the familiar flavors, plus a boost in important nutrients.

Hemp seeds are packed with protein, healthy fats, B‑vitamins like riboflavin, polyphenols, and even tiny amounts of cannabinoids like CBD and CBG. These added nutrients came through in tests, too. The researchers found more antioxidants like gallic acid and trans‑ferulic acid, which help reduce inflammation and protect cells. Malted hemp also increased levels of B‑vitamins and helped the yeast work better during fermentation.

Even better, the seeds didn’t mess with the brewing process. Brewers still got good fermentation, still got drinkable beer—just with extra benefits. It’s a simple way to make beer more functional without losing what we love most about it.

Of course, hemp beer is still beer—and that means it’s meant to be enjoyed responsibly. But if you’re going to kick back with a cold one, why not sip something that comes with a little extra healthy edge?

This breakthrough shows how cannabis, hemp, CBD, and THC are branching out beyond medicine and lifestyle into food and beverage innovation. At High Science, we’re all about smart evolution—whether it’s cannabis apparel, wellness, or homework for your drink of choice.
